Spring & Garden

First a howling blizzard woke us,
Then the rain came down to soak us,
And now before the eye can focus -
Crocus.  ~Lilja Rogers

Leaping Frog StatuesJust about the time that all the Christmas decorations are a memory, and even the cute snowmen we keep out just a bit longer are put away, and maybe we’ve enjoyed our last Valentine’s Day chocolate… we find ourselves really longing for spring.  But that’s about the time we begin to notice that, yes, the days are getting a little longer, even if the March blizzards still threaten.  And we smile. Spring can’t be far behind!  The time of bunnies and birds and flowers and new color and getting back outside in softer air.

We celebrate here at Hickory Dickory Dock with a changing selection of German wood craft from the Erzgebirge and pewter from Wilhelm Schweitzer, and bright birds from Inge Glas; we also celebrate with birdhouses from Bobbo and wind chimes from Woodstock and water fountains and pretty things for the garden…

It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain
